Karasu sat across from the Otokage, the paperwork on her desk discarded as the two had their little showdown. The chair was definitely comfortable, and the room was nicely furnished, the color palate subtle and relaxing. The purple gaze of the woman across from him, however, sent chills down his spine despite the hot weather outside. His molten red eyes narrowed, one of her perfectly-arced eyebrows lifted. His scowl twitched, her lips liftd slightly. The tension in the air was almost stifling, until Karasu cracked a lopsided grin that he'd been told made him look far too much like his father.

"So, are you free for dinner, Kage-chan?" His voice took on a smooth tone that one wouldn't expect from him, and it caused the Otokage to snort in laughter, gracing him with a small smile. The two chuckled for a moment before returning to a relatively-somber tone. "In all seriousness, I would like your permission to explore the Village, see if I can find any survivors from Konohagakure. It's been a while since the war, but thre survivors were headed this way, and I'd like to think that maybe I bought them enough time..."

The Otokage gave the Uchiha Jounin another small smile, her voice soft and reassuring. "I am not opposed to the idea. I also happen to know that there certainly was a rather large amount of refugees, Karasu-san. Your sacrifices weren't in vain."

Taking a sip from a glass of tea on the desk, she continued. "For posterity's sake, you will need to be escorted within the Village, as you do currently serve Hoshigakure. I happen to have a certain person in mind, as well. I have already sent for her, and she should be here momentarily."

Sending him a wink over her tea as she took another sip, he almost didn't catch her soft, casual remark. "Maybe, if you behave yourself, we can speak more about dinner..."

Shizune had been in her workshop, as usual, when she received her summon from the Otokage. The woman had never called her before, as she wasn't more than a simple Genin, a powerful genin, but a genin nonetheless. She would quickly pack up her things, tidy her desk and then make her way over to the Bell Tower. When she arrived, she would knock, wait to be beckoned in, and then enter. "Shizune, at your service, Otokage-sama!" She took note of the dark haired man in the room, he seemed unusual to say the least, but regardless, she would need to see what the Otokage had called her for. Was it for the rumors that something was happening in the desert? Or maybe this man was a king and needed her to design some cool seals for him?! OR MAYBE HE WAS A LONG LOST SEALING MASTER WHO HAD COME SEEKING HER TO TAKE ON AS A STUDENT?!! The last one wasn't very likely, but either way, she got kind of excited at the thought.

Koharu smiled at the excitable young Genin. She was certainly powerful, and the Otokage could see a bright future ahead of her, but she was young yet, and it occasionally showed. Finishing her tea, she gestured over to her unlikely companion, and gave Shizune her orders, with a little extra information on top. It never hurt to be informed, and she could guarantee that the man would find her reaction amusing, if his own attitude was any indication. "Shizune, this is Karasu Uchiha. He is a veteran of the Second War, who was sealed away until recently. He'd like a tour of the Village, as he had heard that there were refugees from Konohagakure that had made it here. Can you handle this?"

Karasu, for his part, gave the kid a smirk. She seemed like the kind to get excited about the little things, and that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. This...could be fun.

Shizune would listen to her orders and nod the affirmative with a cute determined expression crossing her face. She was giving another tour, but this time, to a legend. She would look to him and motion out the door. "Right this way, sir!" She would lead him through the narrow hallways and down the stairs and finally out of the building. "We just exited the main administrative building in Otogakure, the Bell Tower as it's called due to the numerous bells that chime every few hours from the rooftop. What locations around the village would you like to check out first, Uchiha-sama?" Her tone was cheery and the way she spoke about the village showed that she was very knowledgeable about the subject. She had given this tour several times by now, so it was a simply matter to say the least, she could probably walk the tour backwards for the most part if she wanted to, but she would instead choose for a more personalized approach by allowing the man to choose their destinations in his own order, thus giving insight to where his priorities lie in the terms of iconic or what locations he found important in a village.

Following Shizune out the door, laughing under his breath at another wink from the Otokage, Karasu looked around his surroundings before nearly tripping on his own feet. The effort to attempt to see distance and follow someone else was getting to him. Blinking, he'd register what his pint-sized tour guide had said before laughing, a gleam of amusement in his eyes even as a cloudy spot or two showed. "Jeez, kid, just call me Karasu. You're making me feel old! As for where I'd like to see...what would you suggest? I'm torn between the Academy, the residential area, or somewhere to eat."

It was true, he mused, as his stomach grumbled loudly. The Academy was always somewhere that brought him joy, no matter what Village it was. The residential area would give him an idea of how the people he had nearly killed himself to protect had lived, or were potentially still living. The food...Well, that was obvious. After she had decided which to go to first, he'd pipe up a few questions of his own. "So, Shizune...right? What do you specialize in? I find that a lot of Genin pick up what they want to do pretty quick after the Academy."

Shizune would nod to him before speaking, "The academy is the closest to here, so we can start there, and then the marketplace is between the academy and the residential district, so we can pick up food there! This way, Karasu-Ojiisan!" Well, he HAD asked her not to call him so formally. Regardless, she would lead them on their way towards the academy building. On the way she would answer his questions, "Well Ojiisan, I specialize in Fuuinjutsu and Taijutsu. I have a fair amount of medical knowledge as well. My goal is to become the best Sealing Master in the world!" She would stop and strike a pose as she said the last part, but she would keep moving forwards afterwards. Once they arrived in the vicinity of the academy building, one could hear windchimes ringing softly in the wind. "The chimes you can hear are placed all around the village, which is what gives it its name, Village Hidden in Sound. This building is the Academy, it has several floors, each dedicated to a particular realm of study with the more advanced subjects being higher up in the building and the more beginner classes being located closer to the ground floor. The ground floor itself serves as a place for sparring matches between students during either breaks or pre-approved times by the instructors." She would then pause to allow him to give his input to see if they should move on or what.

Karasu shook his head and chuckled at her new method of addressing him, before he began laughing so hard he started to tear up at her declaration. Bent over double, he'd take a moment to sober up before explaining what was so funny. "I'm s-sorry. T-that was just...I remember saying something damn close to that when I was a kid, right after I learned the Great Fireball. Same pose and everything!"

As they moved on to the Academy, Karasu squinted to see the top, even as he visibly relaxed from the sound of the bells. This was getting ridiculous. Blinking once more, he let his eyes focus on Shizune as he spoke up. "Sounds like a nice setup. The structure definitely makes it easier to practice higher-level jutsu. Back in Konoha, we only taught the basics at the Academy. The rest you learn from a Jounin, while learning to function in a three-man cell."

Motioning to continue, the Uchiha would glance over to the younger Shinobi and ask something else. "So, you seem to be the curious sort, and yet you haven't asked any questions. Go ahead and fire. I won't bite."

Shizune would listen to what the man said and before he had time to regret it she let him have it. "howoldareyou? whatjutsudoyouknow? doyouhaveapuppy? canyoufly? flyingiscool! Ibetyouhaveacrushontheotokage,butiheardsheonlylikedgirls! didyouseethemoonfall? wasitcool?! Ibetyourestrong! canyouliftamountain?!" He would certainly regret opening that can of worms as the rapid-fire questions rolled off the young girl's tongue quickly and fluidly. By the time he finished answering, they would no doubt already be in the middle of the market district before she would speak again, "This is the market district! There are over 200 individual food stalls that each stock different cuisine! Take your pick!" She would walk over to a nearby dango stand to purchase several sticks to munch on and would return to where they had been once she finished so they would be able to continue their tour.

Karasu smiled and shook his head at the excited tone in Shizune's voice as she let rip with her questions. Seriously, did she even take a breath that entire time? Thinking about where to start, he gave her a playful sideways glance before speaking. "Well, in order: I'd have to guess I'm around 81 years old, but I definitely don't feel like it; I know a handful of just about everything, although my specialties are Ninjutsu, Bukijutsu, and Genjutsu that has to do with the eyes. I've also been learning Senjutsu; I don't have a puppy, but I DO have something cooler; I can't fly, and it's something I regret every day since it's definitely cool; Koharu-san is definitely attractive, and from her behavior and responses I'd guess she's into both men and women; The moon..."

Stopping in his tracks, Karasu started to shake in a cold sweat, breathing coming in ragged gasps as he scrambled for a flask and his eyes clouded over. Pulling it out of his pouch, he unscrewed it quickly and took a large swig, his muscles relaxing as he took deep breaths. Replacing the flask and running a shaky hand through his hair, he'd blink twice before speaking, his voice rougher than normal. "Yeah, I saw it fall. It...was one of the last things I saw before getting sealed, and is probably one of the worst memories of my life. As to how strong I am...I'm not sure how I'd go about lifting a mountain, but I've definitely cut a few in half."

When Shizune pointed out all the different food stalls, Karasu gave a relieved sigh and wandered over to get a couple rolls of sushi. Making his way back over to the Genin, he gave her a look that was still slightly clouded and unfocused, and an apologetic smile as he ate off a take-out plate. "Sorry about that. The war against the Otsutsuki was brutal, and I still get flashes of it. Hell, I damn-near blinded myself using my Kekkei Genkai, and the only reason I can see more than twenty feet ahead of me is because the seal was meant to repair the damage to my body. Doesn't help that I've had to use it a few times since I woke up."

Shizune would listen in awe as he answered her questions in turn before he had his little episode. IT would make sense for someone who was a part of that to have rather traumatic memories of such events, though she wouldn't apologize, a shinobi of his caliber would think nothing of such things and wouldn't want the patronization of an apology nor would he seek pity. She would also listen to what he said about the war as she munched on her dango and he munched on his sushi. "I hope that your visual impairment hasn't impeded your enjoyment of the tour!" Was all she would say on the matter as she would then begin leading him towards the residential district. The Shinobi populace lived in several high-rise apartment buildings while the civilians lived below them in more suburban cul-de-sac style of housing arrangements. Several cookie cutter houses were spread out over multiple streets, each culdisac representative of a separate clan or family in the case of non-shinobi residents, with only a few being mixed between smaller families. Shizune would explain it to the man as such, not leaving out any details on the matter!

Karasu smiled at Shizune as she simply responded in her usual chipper manner, not giving his condition another thought. Not many people would realize that most high-level Shinobi wouldn't really care for most of the petty words others give over these kinds of things. The best thing for it was to just accept it and move on. As she showed him the residential quarters, the Uchiha looked around, his smile taking on a soft, wistful tone as he noticed several subtle touches to buildings that screamed "Konoha", along with a couple of memorials with the symbol of the Village Hidden in the Leaves here and there.

Looking at his miniature companion, Karasu decided to give her his thanks. "Hey, kid...thanks. It looks like a lot of my fears were unfounded. They made it..."

Shaking his head, he'd look back at her with an almost-teasing smirk on his face. "So, if you're a Fuinjutsu specialist, where's your workshop?"

Shizune would simply offer him a smile as he thanked her and then that smile grew wider as he asked her about her pride and joy, her workshop. "I'll show you!" She would then lead him in the direction of the towers that held the shinobi populace. Leading him up the stairs in one of the buildings up to the 82nd floor and into a door that she quickly unlocked with a key summoned from an unseen place. Leading him in and to a back room, she would place her hand on the wall as a masterfully crafted sealing array spread out and then the wall itself seemed to slide to the side revealing a separate room. The room was littered with seals of among the finest craftsmanship in the elemental nations, ranging from seals dedicated to the storage and redistribution of chakra, to seals dealing with the displacement of space and time. She was clearly among the greatest at her line of work and quite a few of the seals in the room would no doubt be total gibberish to the man she had brought into her sacred place.

Karasu gave a chuckle as the little ball of energy led him up a TON of stairs, opening the door to what he assumed was her apartment. Going into a backroom, his gaze turned both analytical and appreciative as he watched the wall slide out. Following her in, the Uchiha let his eyes roam over the various seals, taking them in. He understood most of them, although there were a few that sent his mind reeling at the complexity.

Blinking, his Sharingan spinning to life and glowing softly in the lighted room, Karasu watched the way chakra flowed through them, and walked in a slow circle, taking in the scenery, as it were. Looking at one on the wall, one that seemed to be meant to absorb and store chakra, the Uchiha would point at a spot inside the central ring, marked by several converging lines. "This is amazing, although it'd be more efficient if you moved this marker about three millimeters to the left."

Looking over at her, the tomoe in his eyes spinning lazily, he'd smile in a friendly way as he explained. "I've dabbled in some high-level Fuinjutsu. It helps that I'm able to see chakra, though, so I guess you could call it cheating. All of this, though...I can't make heads or tails out of it. Like, that one over there. I can tell it's meant to store...something, but that's about it. How the hell are you still a Genin, kid?"

Shizune would chuckle as he seemed to take in the scenery around the room. She took a mental note of the suggestion on one of her chakra storage seals, it was rather costly to place, though she didn't think much on it as she had pretty decent reserves. Regardless, it would prove useful to make such adjustments in the future. He then said that some of them were just not at his level of understanding yet. He would mention one that she was still in the process of creating, it was very much still in its alpha stages, "Yes, that seal is stull a work in progress. I'm trying to make a seal that can hold a pocket dimension within it that will expand time farther than the outside world does. My goal is to make one of our days last a year within the seal, thus allowing one to get a years worth of experiences within a single day. It is still a ways off though. As far as my rank, I never really go on many missions nor do I do much to interact with other shinobi aside from updating seals around the village and things of that nature, rank always slips my mind I guess, hehe." She had the decency to gain a sheepish grin on her face at that last part as she scratched the back of her head, it wasn't her fault she found working on her seals more interesting than going out and taking exams.

Karasu laughed and deactivated his Sharingan as Shizune spoke. Eyes twinkling, he'd respond to her obviously-flighty response. "Makes sense, although I'd suggest going for a higher rank. It'd get you more income, and thus more materials. As for the seal..."

Reaching into his pouch, he pulled an old piece of paper out and handed it over to her. When unfolded, it would reveal itself to be a complex scroll, not dissimilar to the one that she had drawn up. "That's the seal that I was put under. I found it in my dad's old study, and I figure he'd want a promising young somebody to have it. From what I could piece together, it's pretty much the opposite of what you're attempting. All my injuries were healed, and by the time I woke up from what I thought was a restful night of sleep, fifty years had passed. Maybe it'll help."

Leaning back against the wall, Karasu figured he'd watch her work. Idly, he realized that part of the reason she'd asked him where he wished to go on the tour was an attempt to get to know him and his priorities, and this was it. Learning, growing, and ensuring that the next generation has a bright future.

He might act like an ass, but didn't all Shinobi wish for a lasting peace?

She listened intently, soaking up all the information he had to offer. She may not be an overachiever when it came to promotions, but she WAS an absolute NERD when it came to learning ANYTHING new. Then he handed her a piece of paper, reading the seal on it, it took her a minute to decipher it. It was not similar to what she was working on, but it was an absolutely astounding seal nonetheless. It had a lot of similar traits to her Nageku, though this seal was made to extend the life of the one bearing it, not really to heal them quickly. It was meant to stay on for a long time and gradually heal them, similar to a more natural and one could argue, safer way than the seal she had just developed, but her seal was certainly more of a last resort in any case, she really didn't know what to say, so she simply said, "Thanks Ojii! This is awesome!" She would place the seal down in an area that would look devoted to more medical knowledge than the space time stuff that had kindof overtaken most of her workspace, though she knew she was close to a breakthrough. "As soon as I finish this seal, I'll give you one for free, Ojii!" She would finish that with a thunbs up and a twinkling grin.

Karasu chuckled at her enthusiasm, even as he sweat-dropped at the reminder of his TECHNICAL age. "Thanks, kid. I should probably get going. I spotted a hotel on the way here, so I think I'll just get a room while I'm here. I'll see you around!"

Waving as he made his way out the door, Karasu walked over to the stairs, his eye twitching as he looked down. How many were there?!

Half an hour later, as he finally walked through the doors to the nearby hotel, he had his answer. Too. Fucking. Many...
